Billy Hughes was the Prime Minister of Australia during the turbulent years of WW1. Hughes is remembered for controversially splitting the Labor party over the issue of mandatory conscription and having the public throw an egg at him . Famously arguing with US President Woodrow Wilson by defending Australia’s post war reparation deal abroad and improvised by signing the Peace Treaty of Versailles with a diggers rising sun button. The challenge of this TVC was to capture this colourful life and historic subject matter within thirty seconds whilst making it entertaining but also being respectful to the era and people of the time. ‘Billy Hughes at War’ extends the strong visual brand style developed in the first four OPH ads by drawing on WW1 propaganda posters, and is a fun, quirky and engaging animated TVC, we hope will intrigue and inspire a large audience to attend the exhibition.
